Here is a chart put together by
Stephen Von Worley showing the evolution of Crayola crayons from the first 8 color box in 1903 to the 120 color box of today. If the image isn't impressive enough, in mathematical terms, that's a doubling of color options every 28 years. Meaning in 2050, kids will have 330 options to choose from in deciding which color will best contrast the newly painted bedroom walls.

Christian Faur takes Crayola up on the challenge, crafting his own crayons to every shade imaginable (much beyond the current 120 or future 330), and uses them as the primary medium of his artwork. Really cool idea, and I love the lines of random colors, reminds me of the ol' glitchy CRT TVs, God rest their soul.
