{ Benjamin Anderson }

Ever wanted to throw the world (or at least, all your worldly possessions) in the local neighborhood pool. Yeah, not sure I have either. But apparently Benjamin Anderson has had just that desire, and has graced us with these paintings to show us just how beautiful a release that can be. The series title, "Just Add Water," seems to imply that it's precisely in these objects' submersion that they come to life (like the little sponge dinosaurs that grew to 30x their original size), maybe in the sense that the water's ripples seem to give the hard metal a life all its own. Or maybe the title hints that their submersion begins the slow and steady process of rusting, such that "just adding water" would reveal these heavy, permanent heaps of metal to be the ephemeral, fragile things they actually are. So then is the reality the water reveals their life or their decay? Either way, these are great.
